Research Project Manager

Posted by Robert Half.

Exciting opportunity for a Research Project Manager to join Global Water Intelligence (GWI) based in Oxford, offering up to £37,000 plus excellent benefits.

This is an opportunity to get involved and make a difference in an industry that is at the very heart of the global climate crisis.

The Company

Global Water Intelligence (GWI) is the leading specialist publisher and events organiser serving the international water sector. We create value by connecting people and ideas to solve the world's water challenges. It is delivered by a brilliant and committed team of editors, communicators, project managers, and sales people based in our central Oxford headquarters.

The world is not running out of water, but climate change, urbanisation, and over abstraction means that water security is an ever-growing challenge for communities all over the world. It means that in future we will all become more dependent on unconventional water resources such as seawater desalination and wastewater reuse. Policy makers, public water agencies, technology companies, contractors and investors all look to Global Water Intelligence to provide insights into this fast-growing market.

The business intelligence platform includes DesalData which is a database of all the desalination and water reuse plants in the world, incorporating a listing of all future projects and a forecast of future spending.

The role

The Research Project Manager will be responsible for:

  • Project ownership: You will be responsible for leading and managing complex research in the rapidly growing fields of desalination and wastewater reuse, taking ownership of projects to bring them to fruition.
  • Data collection and interpretation: We are the main source of data for the international water industry. With that responsibility comes important skills: persistence in sourcing and gathering new data, squeezing spreadsheets until they tell a story and presenting it effectively through data visualisation.
  • Coordination: Our work is fundamentally driven by communication with our network of industry contacts. Effectively coordinating the flow of information from this network is critical in ensuring we deliver the best possible research and conclusions.

About you

Applicants for the Research Project Manager role will have:

  • A true interest in the issue of water scarcity and its solutions, with a curious nature and enthusiasm to go beneath the surface.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to balance multiple ongoing projects.
  • A problem-solving attitude and ability to tackle a variety of challenges.
  • Excellent relationship building and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent coupled with research experience.
  • Good systems and analytical ability, including intermediate Excel skills.
