Are you an experienced Writer / Technical Writer within the Engineering or Training Industry? Seeking a new role? Look no further!

Our client is seeking a Technical Author to join their team.

You will be working within the Development Department, this person will be responsible for developing and maintaining technology-based learning materials, initially addressing the subject area of electrical vehicles.

The Role:

  • Writing interactive, computer-based learning materials. These materials will initially be designed to address the needs of students on vehicle maintenance courses in colleges, schools and universities.
  • Authoring of both computer-based and paper-based learning materials that cover areas of engineering and vehicle technology.
  • Undertaking any research that may be required to ensure the accuracy of learning materials.
  • Proof-reading, technical editing and testing of both computer-based and paper-based learning materials.
  • Keeping up to date with the latest technological advances in the areas of electronics, automotive, mechatronics, control and telecommunications.
  • Using in-house editing software that has been designed to produce on-screen delivered learning materials.
  • Using Windows-based software packages such as Microsoft Office.
  • Troubleshooting problems reported by the Customer Support Department. Implementing and providing solutions
  • Releasing new and updated products into production.
  • Liaising with other departments, including Customer Support, Purchasing, Sales, Marketing and Production.

Why You?

You will need the following;

  • A degree or equivalent in a field of engineering. Teaching experience a definite benefit.
  • Be able to communicate clearly through the written word.
  • Have experience of researching technical subjects.
  • An enthusiastic, flexible, self-motivated approach and a willingness to learn new skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate well with people at all levels.
  • The ability to plan their own activities and prioritise workload without close supervision.
  • An organised manner and the ability to work effectively, either individually or as part of a team.
  • A close attention to detail and an ability to meet deadlines, sometimes under pressure, while maintaining set standards.
  • The ability to follow formal procedures and work within a structured Quality Management System.
  • Be able to ensure the highest standards of confidentiality and conduct in all areas of activity.
