Job Purpose:

The Technical Specialist Engineer will support the Senior Technical Engineering Manager and the service team in managing, training, and developing the Service Engineering Team while retaining technical expertise. The Senior Service Engineer will conduct maintenance, fault finding, attends emergency call outs, and works on Automatic Fire, Fire Extinguishing-Gas Suppression, and Fire Aspiration Alarm Systems.

  • To have good verbal and written communication skills, including to prepare reports/complete service call-out documentation.
  • To have the ability to form good working relationships with colleagues, customers and outside bodies.
  • Use initiative and have strong attention to detail considering the life safety industry we operate within.

Responsibilities

  • Complete electronic worksheets, time sheets, and mileage/expense claims regularly.
  • Adhere to Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Technical Compliance policies.
  • Assist colleagues with technical issues via phone support or on-site assistance.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant engineering practices, reporting inconsistencies as necessary.
  • Promptly attend to all job tasks, escalating delays or difficulties to supervisors.
  • Conduct monthly engineer audits and report findings to supervisors.
  • Lead by example, providing support, technical knowledge, and coaching to colleagues.
  • Cultivate effective client relationships and relay leads and survey information to the sales team.

Specific Requirements:

  • At least 10 years, experience in the fire industry.
  • Proven ability to install, test, commission, and service Fire Alarm Systems and/or Security Systems.
  • Excellent servicing, diagnostic and fault-finding skills, with the ability to resolve by elimination or technical recommendations.
  • Specialist knowledge and experience on a broader and higher technical range of equipment such as Simplex, EST, Siemens to include software configuration and programming.
  • Fire: Edwards EST3 / Siemens Cerberus Pro / Notifier / GENT
  • VA/PA & EVACS: Baldwin Boxall / Honeywell / TOA / Cameo / Siemens
  • Suppression Systems: Inert / FM200 / Water Mist / RIT
  • Security Systems: IP Networks / CCTV / Access Control
  • All-round engineering background supported by recognised qualifications, and demonstrable experience (at least 2 years) at a technical level within the industry
  • Computer Literate, good general IT skills including Microsoft Excel and Word.
