Embedded Software Team Lead

Senior, Principal or Lead Embedded Software Engineer
who is looking for a career progression to take the next step to become an
Embedded Software Team Lead
with present and previous line management and team leadership skills as being competently technically skilled and having experience of
Embedded Software Development & Embedded C++
The role:
As the
Embedded Software Team Lead
, you will have a role split of
80% of full line management
of leading a talented team of 10 Embedded Software Engineers to design, develop, manufacture and release high quality engineering products as part of the full product design lifecycle and
20% being technically hands on
to engineer, state requirements, design, and architectural responsibility for the developed firmware.
Salary & hybrid working:
The salary on offer for the
Embedded Software Team Lead is
£70,000 - £75,000 per annum
plus a
10% Performance based Bonus
- Hybrid working will be 3 days onsite and 2 days WFH. Relocation assistance is available.
Embedded Software Team Lead Key Skills:
- 5-10+ years industry experience
- Experience of line management & team leadership
- Experience of Embedded Software Development
- Embedded C++
- Fundamental understanding of the embedded development process from Low level "bare metal" firmware development through to Embedded Linux applications
- Experience of Agile Tools & Methodologies – JIRA, Scrum, GIT, GitHub etc
- Documentation using Doxygen or similar
- Can lead, inspire and motivate software engineers of various experience levels
- Lead experience to carve up work packages, architect, delegate and drive progress
- Sound understanding of other engineering disciplines and may have led multi-disciplined teams – Electronics, Mechanical Engineers
- An open and positive outlook, with an interest to explore new technologies and ideas
- Experience inf the Software & Embedded Software Development lifecycle
Bonus nice to have skills:
- RTOS Experience - FreeRTOS, ThreadX, QNX, VxWorks or more
- Build tools like Buildroot or YOCTO
- Test Driven Development / Unit Testing / Static Analysis
- Scripting experience - Python, Bash, etc.
- High reliability - MISRA C C++ DO-178B etc
- Low level communication protocols – SPI, I2C, USB, UART, CAN
- Wireless protocols = GSM, 3G, 4G, WI-FI, Bluetooth etc
- Industry experience – Automotive, Aerospace, Cyber Security, Consumer Electronics
