We are seeking a European Operative to join our client's busy European department. This role is ideal for someone who is organised, works well under pressure, and has a strong work ethic. The successful candidate will focus on operational tasks for new and existing customers, building relationships, and offering the highest level of customer care. Experience within the European freight industry and understanding customs formalities for UK-EU shipments is highly desirable.

As Total Logistics Experts, they handle everything from packing and customs regulations to domestic and international logistics via road, air, and sea. They are obsessed with problem-solving and always have the answer.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Manage European Operations, including direct client interaction and liaising with suppliers to deliver appropriate services.
  • Handle customs entries and documentation with high accuracy and standards.
  • Build and maintain client relations to ensure continued business.
  • Perform data capture and maintain accurate records.
  • Provide general transportation advice and support to customers.
  • Conduct internal auditing checks to maintain customs compliance.
  • Take a proactive approach to problem-solving and identifying opportunities.
  • Work with HMRC and other customs authorities.
  • Perform general office duties as required.
  • Ensure first-class customer service is delivered to customers and partners.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in European operations.
  • Knowledge of customs documentation, certificates, licenses, and general Customs Compliance.
  • Familiarity with Tariffs and handling customs for freight movements involving EU/EFTA countries.
  • Understanding of ISO/AEO Procedures and Inco Terms.
  • Experience with additional declarations for specific destinations and origins.
  • High level of customer service skills.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Good problem-solving skills.

Benefits:

  • Full-time, permanent contract.
  • Working hours: 9:00am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday, with an hour for lunch.
