About the role

Are you an experienced, creative and talented graphic designer? Do you have a proven track record of delivering high quality design across a range of different formats, channels and audiences in a busy and changing environment?
We're looking for someone with flair and drive to join our corporate communications team within the Communications and Engagement directorate at the NMC. You'll work with colleagues to deliver and support other teams to produce compelling communications to better inform and engage with the public, nursing and midwifery professionals and our partners. As graphic designer, you'll focus on achieving the best possible expression of our visual identity to help ensure our audiences know who we are and what we stand for.

In this critical role, you'll lead on the continuing development of the NMC's visual identity, with responsibility for managing and updating brand guidelines. You'll design core publications, sub-brands and wide-ranging collateral for events, digital content and more, as well as supporting colleagues to maximise best practice use of guidelines, templates and assets for their own communications.
As creative lead, you'll advise on campaigns, contribute to animations, brief agencies and ensure our look and feel is coherent, dynamic and people-centred across the board. You'll also procure photoshoots and film and embed best practice on accessibility in our designed communications to ensure nobody is left behind.

About You

You'll be a values-driven person who believes in the power of communication to make a positive difference to people, and passionate about improving and learning.

You'll be accustomed to working with and developing brand guidelines to ensure a consistent look and feel across an organisation with extensive skills and experience in using Adobe Creative Suite and excellent knowledge of accessible formats and accessibility standards.

You'll value teamwork and be driven to succeed as a proactive member of a high-
performing team and your great time management skills will work hand in hand with your organisational skills, accuracy and keen attention to detail.

Being calm under pressure, you'll be skilled at managing multiple competing priorities. You'll also be adept at working autonomously while also motivating and collaborating with others to plan projects strategically and effectively as well as managing expectations and challenging views or assumptions constructively when needed.

You'll be experienced in working with photographers or videographers to produce high quality, consistent and accessible content and as a bonus, you'll have experience and skill in videography, film editing and/or animation.

About Us

Our core role is to regulate. First, we promote high education and professional standards for nurses and midwives across the UK, and nursing associates in England. Second, we maintain the register of professionals eligible to practise. Third, we investigate concerns about nurses, midwives and nursing associates - something that affects a tiny minority of professionals each year. Our Pay Policy
It is expected that staff new to the NMC will ordinarily be appointed to the bottom of the relevant pay band. However in exceptional circumstances, it may be possible to offer a salary above the bottom of the relevant pay band but we may request proof of current earnings. Please note that we offer an annual review of salaries and adopt a generous progressive pay approach. Further details of which are available on request.
