Are you a qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant looking for a new challenge? Would you like to support young people with autism and ADHD? Are you a team player that loves throwing yourself into new situations?

Long-Term Teachers are working on behalf of an incredible, fast-paced and rapidly growing special school in Tiverton who are looking to recruit a HLTA for September. Due to welcoming two new nurture classes in year 7, our school is looking to expand their close-knit, hard-working 'learning family'.

The role will involve working with young people who have high-functioning autism and/or ADHD. You will work alongside the classroom teachers to support learning in the classroom. You will also be responsible for working closely with the teacher to develop and implement core subject interventions to support individual children with their personal knowledge and academic progress. Additionally, you will lead the class for PPA cover, delivering pre-planned lessons.

Who we are looking for someone:

  • Who has a real passion for working with young people, especially those with autism and ADHD
  • Who is proactive, resilient and willing to get 'stuck in'
  • Has a good sense of humour and loves working as part of a team
  • Be able to engage children in their learning
  • Build strong, positive relationships with children, staff and parents/carers
  • Have previous experience working in education
  • Is a qualified HLTA

You will be required to work 8am - 3pm, Monday to Friday during term-time only.
