We have an opportunity for a Head of Legal to join our client's team in London. The team works on a hybrid working basis.
- Contract: until January 2025
- Daily rate: £1200 per day via umbrella
- Hours: 40, Monday to Friday
Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Legal to join their global headquarters team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and managing investments, including minority interests and joint ventures. This role involves overseeing smaller stakes, annual reporting, corporate investments, and partner markets.
Head of Legal responsibilities
- Corporate & M&A: Manage corporate transactions, M&A activities, and investments. Oversee minority interests and joint ventures.
- Partner Markets: Maintain and develop relationships with over 20 partner markets, including sub-branded entities.
- Technology & Outsourcing: Handle complex technology and outsourcing agreements, including partnerships with Microsoft, shared operations, and Vantage Towers.
- Intellectual Property: Ensure trademark compliance, develop brand strategy, manage litigation, marketing, and domain sponsorships.
- Strategic Transactions: Lead corporate and strategic deal-making, working closely with senior stakeholders. Exhibit a proactive attitude and the ability to simplify complex issues.
- Leadership: Act as a leader rather than a manager, fostering a stable team environment. Embrace change, understand leadership ethics, and think strategically about the future.
- Legal Compliance: Oversee corporate compliance and ensure adherence to legal standards within a high-complexity organisation.
- Innovation: Promote innovation, creativity, and strategic thinking within the legal team.
What you'll need to succeed
- Extensive experience in corporate law, M&A, and managing investments.
- Proven track record in handling complex technology and outsourcing agreements.
- At least 30 years of post-qualification experience
- Strong background in intellectual property law, including trademark compliance and litigation.
- Experience in strategic transactions and corporate deal-making.
- Leadership experience, with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
- Significant deal-making experience.
- The ability to work in a high-complexity organisation and managing large briefs.
- An innovative and creative thinker with a proactive approach.
Preferred Experience:
- Private practice experience is desired.
- Experience as a Deputy General Counsel or Assistant General Counsel is a plus.
