About the Role

Are you an experienced HR professional looking for a new challenge? We are seeking a dedicated HR Advisor to join our clients team for an initial 18-month period. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in a unionised business, fostering strong relationships with managers and providing comprehensive HR support across a generalist remit.

As an HR Advisor, you will be work as part of the HR team and be responsible for delivering proactive, professional, and confidential HR advice and support to managers and employees within your designated business areas. You will be instrumental in guiding and coaching managers through various HR processes, ensuring effective and consistent application of HR policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong and influential working relationships with senior management, line managers, employees, and Trade Union Representatives.
  • HR Advice: Provide robust advice and guidance on a wide range of HR policies and procedures.
  • Employee Relations: Support and coach managers in resolving employee cases related to absence management, performance management, disciplinary, grievance, and conduct.
  • Recruitment: Manage all aspects of the recruitment process for your assigned business areas.
  • External Liaison: Liaise with external stakeholders such as Occupational Health, Solicitors, Pension providers, and recruitment agencies.
  • Project Support: Contribute to key HR projects that align with the strategic aims of the business.
  • Employee Communication: Support employee communications as needed.
  • Coaching: Provide coaching and development to the HR Coordinator/HR Administrator.

Key Requirements

  • Experience: Previous experience in an HR Advisor role is essential, if that was within a unionised environment that would be even better but not essential.
  • Skills: Ability to manage multiple priorities in a highly-demanding environment and to work within constraints while challenging the status quo.
  • Stakeholder Management: Excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Project Management: Proven experience in supporting and managing key HR projects.
  • Attributes: Highly motivated, resilient, self-confident, and results-oriented with strong communication skills.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Industry Experience: Experience in shipbuilding or manufacturing industries is desirable but not essential.
