The Boots Cloud Centre of Excellence team is seeking an experienced Finops Engineer to join our growing International IT and Advanced Analytics (IT2A) function.

We are looking for people who want to challenge the ‘norm'; we want to change how we use the Cloud and help our companies who have some awesome ideas on how we help our patients and customers and the Cloud Centre of Excellence is pivotal to help our colleagues across IT and the wider business to make the most of the Cloud.

About the role:

As our new Finops Engineer, you will drive the processes for managing cloud spend and driving efficiencies.

You will lead the strategic financial management of cloud resources, focusing on maximizing cost efficiency and aligning cloud expenditure with our financial goals.

Key responsibilities:

  • Your role will involve collaboration with finance and technology teams to lead cost-effective cloud use.
  • Strategy and Direction – Develop and implement strategies for CCM (Cloud Cost Management) and optimization.
  • Optimization - Oversee and analyze spend to identify trends and cost saving opportunities.
  • Services – Partner with engineering teams to understand resource utilization and recommend cost-effective solutions.
  • Partner/Software Evaluation – work with procurement and finance partners to evaluate solutions and negotiate with Cloud providers.
  • Operations – Establish and enforce Cloud FinOps (Financial Operations) policies for cloud spend.
  • Promote the adoption of FinOps practices across the organization.
  • Build KPIs to measure success.
  • Risk Management – Evaluate risks (security, compliance, etc.) and operational inefficiency.
  • Compliance – Ensure compliance with financial governance and company policy as it pertains to cloud investments,

What you'll need to have:

  • Knowledge of FinOps Principles and Practices
  • Solid grasp of Cloud Services and Pricing Models
  • 5 years Azure Cloud experience
  • 2 years FinOps
  • 7 + Years of related experience
  • Excellent Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
  • Effective Communication and Interpersonal Abilities

It would be great if you also had:

  • Azure Solution Architect Expert or Equivalent
  • Experience in Financial Management in Cloud Computing related area.
  • Technical proficiency in visualization/reporting tools (PowerBI, Tableau, etc.)
  • Experience with VMWare and on Premise technologies.
