Prospero Teaching is currently recruiting dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistants for a Good Ofsted rated Special School located in New Milton, Hampshire.

Dedicated to providing exceptional education and support for students aged 11-16 with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) and Complex Emotional Needs. The school employs specialist education approaches, therapeutic support, and tailored environments to help students prepare for the challenges of adult life in a positive and empowering manner.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing support and guidance to our students, creating a nurturing and supportive environment where they can thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with teaching staff to develop and implement specialised educational programs tailored to the needs of students with SEMH and Complex Emotional Needs.
  • Provide one-on-one support and assistance to students, helping them to manage their emotions, develop coping strategies, and build positive relationships.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes emotional well-being and academic success.
  • Engage students in therapeutic interventions and activities designed to enhance their social and emotional skills.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm, energy, and empathy while working with students facing various emotional challenges.
  • Willingness to undertake personal care responsibilities as needed.

  • Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday to Friday
  • Pay Rates: From £85.09 per day

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with students with SEMH and Complex Emotional Needs is desired but not essential; we provide ongoing training and support.
  • A passion for making a positive impact on the lives of young people facing emotional challenges.
  • Proactive and adaptable with a willingness to engage in classroom activities and therapeutic interventions.
  • High energy, empathy, and a positive attitude towards working with students with diverse emotional needs.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK is required.
  • An enhanced child barred list DBS certificate, registered with the online update service, or a willingness to obtain a new one.
  • Two professional references related to child care or education.
