This role of Commercial Finance Analyst offers the chance for a detail-oriented individual to develop their skills within the retail sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with financial matters and providing strategic support to help the company achieve its financial goals.

Our client is a highly successful company within the retail industry, boasting over 6000 sites across various countries. Being one of the UK's largest retailers, they have an established presence in Blackburn and are looking to expand their team.

Description

As the Commercial Finance Analyst you will be a central point for part of their business, where as a key contact to senior managers you will be supporting and guiding the business to help the business identify and understand trends

  • Producing Reports: You'll be responsible for creating regular reports for various stakeholders across the group. These reports will highlight key points and recommendations to support informed decision-making.
  • Annual Budgeting: You will lead the annual budgeting process, providing valuable insights based on trends to ensure accurate financial planning.
  • Software Transition: You will spearhead the transition to new budgeting software, working closely with the project team to ensure a smooth implementation.
  • Project Work: You will undertake various projects, including automation and system improvements (e.g., SAP/POS).
  • Monthly Board Pack: You will oversee and produce the monthly Board Pack, ensuring it is comprehensive and accurate.
  • Performance Analysis: Collaborating with the Accounts team, you will review monthly performance and key drivers by site to understand and enhance performance.
  • Site Performance Review: At a granular level, you will review site-by-site performance, conduct benchmarking exercises, and work on improving margins and operating expenses.
  • Process Improvement: You will identify process gaps and work cross-functionally to enhance these processes.
  • Brand Partnerships: You will report on brand partnerships and their ROI, aiding the executive board in making future capital expenditure decisions.
  • Investor Reports: You will produce frequent reports and analyses for investors via the Group Finance team.
  • Initiative Analysis: You will analyse and critique initiatives such as supplier changes or new product launches, providing actionable insights.
  • Support Role: As the 'go-to' person, you will maintain a can-do attitude and provide assistance in various scenarios.
  • Team Collaboration: You will understand the roles of other analysts in the team and provide cover when necessary.
  • Core KPIs: You will work with the in-country lead to drive the business's core KPIs.
  • Dashboards: You will prepare weekly and monthly dashboards to provide clear visuals for non-financial managers, aiding their understanding and decision-making.

Profile

This role would suit a commercially focused Analyst with at least 2 years of experience in an accounting department or similar role.

You will have strong analytical abilities, advanced Microsoft Excel skills, and either have experience or wish to develop skills within financial modelling.

In addition, you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and keen to grow a career and opportunity to develop your skills to achieve your potential within a dynamic organisation
