Production Line Manager

Production Line Manager

Location: Cheltenham - GL51
Hours of work: 8am-5pm Monday-Friday
Pay rate: Salary dependant on experience

Our client is the world's leading manufacturer and supplier of door opening solutions, meeting tough end-user demands for safety, security and convenience.

Main Responsibilities and Challenges

  • Ensure production demands are met and to meet business KPI's
  • Understanding customer requirements and liaising where required with internal customer services and attend meetings
  • Facilitate daily production meetings.
  • Support the procurement of direct and in-direct materials for in-house manufactured components.
  • Develop skills within the team through training that allows for staff rotation
  • Managing resources in-line with sales
  • Responsible for scheduling and planning of work orders and working to short leadtimes
  • Applies lean manufacturing skills 5S, TPM, SMED and driving continuous improvement
  • Lead quality actions and improvements ensuring production outputs are met right first time delivery is on time and in full

Leadership Duties

  • Understand, proactively embrace and positively act in accordance with our client's core values and beliefs; empowerment, innovation and integrity and consistently demonstrate the associated behaviours. Also ensure adherence within team.
  • Understand, proactively embrace and positively act in accordance with our client's code of conduct and ensure so within team.
  • Ensure completion of all relevant compliance training and procedures for self and team members.
  • Assist the Manager with recruitment and selection of new team members and take responsibility for local inductions with new staff.
  • Help and assist other team members.
  • Act as an escalation to difficult customer concerns.
  • Proactively assist in providing solutions to changes required within the team, with regards to business process and technology.
  • Lead in specific projects and improvement activities as required and directed by Management.
  • Take pro-active responsibility for the improvement of KPI's by providing data to Management and actions plans for improvement.
  • To be responsible for the health, safety and welfare for all relevant employees and stakeholders. To continuously drive improvements in all aspects of health, safety and the environment.

Background and Personal Qualities

Experience

  • Good knowledge of all aspects of operations from order in-take through to despatch
  • Have good IT skills and knowledge of ERP system preferred.
  • Possess a wide general knowledge of manufacturing.
  • Possess strong communication skills
  • Have excellent planning, organisational and problem solving skills
  • Be able to work under pressure, prioritising to meet deadlines
  • Have experience in Lean Manufacturing
  • Good analytical skills
