The Role:

Reporting to our People Director, you will be a key member of our People Team, with responsibility for developing and leading the training and development plan, in line with the wider People and Business strategy.

Ensuring our employees and workforce are appropriately qualified and compliant within their role, identifying current and future skills/training gaps and creating flexible learning interventions to meet the needs of the business.

A key focus of the role is to future proof our workforce, ensuring our people have the right skills and behaviours to meet the needs of our projects and stakeholders and to ensure we fulfil our grow our own strategy through our early careers and upskilling programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete the annual training needs analysis, contributing to the creation of the comprehensive customised Training Plan to meet business needs.
  • Manage, update and regularly review the training competency and skills matrix.
  • In collaboration with the Workforce lead, review and renew relevant training ensuring all staff are appropriately qualified and compliant with their role.
  • Manage and facilitate all training requests.
  • Develop and manage relationships with external training partners.
  • Manage and facilitate in house and external development/training from workforce to leadership collaborating with internal stakeholders to get under the skin of what we want to achieve and briefing on expected learning outcomes.
  • Manage the training budget and ensure cost effective delivery of training.
  • Manage relationship with the CITB and other relevant organisations, to keep up to date with trends/changes and to access grant schemes maximising benefit for the business.
  • Manage relationships with colleges and universities to deliver our early careers graduate and apprenticeship schemes.
  • Develop relationships with relevant colleges to establish and facilitate development of apprenticeship programmes for our blue collar workforce.
  • Advise trainees and internal stakeholders on suitable qualification routes for early careers employees, facilitating and monitoring course enrolment and attendance, NVQ or sponsored study.
  • Manage and facilitate registration and mentoring for employees working towards professional membership ICE/RICS.
  • Manage Professional/Academic qualifications policy.
  • Manage Section 106 Industry Employment and Skills Requirements, supporting bids as and when required.
  • Facilitate and manage initiatives linked to employment and skills, including job fairs, school visits, taster programmes and supporting employability programmes.
  • Champion initiatives to streamline processes and procedures to maximise efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Contribute to projects to digitise our Training and Development systems.
  • Support on ad hoc People Team initiatives and projects.

About you

  • Ideally, you will have previous experience in a similar role working with a varied directly employed workforce - however for the right person, with the right approach, we would consider your application if you're looking to "step up".
  • Experience working with local authority and an understanding of Section 106 requirements is not essential but would be useful.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems would be useful but not essential.
  • Motivated, with high-energy and happy to be hands-on and roll your sleeves up.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and exceptional communication skills are key requirements for this role.
  • Microsoft Suite - Excellent Excel skills are essential.
  • Excellent relationship builder
