Tool Maker

Job Description

Hydram Engineering Limited have a vacancy for an experienced and qualified tool maker. The post holder will be responsible for making precision tools (such as jigs, fixtures and press tools), special guides and holding devices, which will then be used in the manufacturing process to ensure we make customer products to the required specifications. Our customer base is very broad but includes many world-class blue-chip businesses.

Duties

  • Producing bespoke manufacturing aids using a variety of manual milling, turning and grinding machines along with a variety of other machines and hand tools.
  • The post is to work in a small team on site at our main manufacturing facility
  • Responsible for maintaining their own quality and safety standards
  • Keeping records
  • Maintaining equipment and supplies.
  • Working in small project-based teams along with engineering, quality and production team members
  • Working autonomously

Required knowledge, skills or experience

  • The successful candidate will have an extensive background working in a toolroom or very similar environment
  • Experience of setting and operating CNC milling machines or lathes would also be desirable, but not essential.
  • Previous experience within a similar role as Toolmaker within the engineering industry is essential.
  • Problem solving and tool improvement.
  • Must be able to work on own initiative.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy of work.
  • Be organised and have the ability to prioritise and multi-task.
  • Be able to communicate effectively to own team and other departments.
  • Be efficient with working practices.

Additional Information

Location: Chilton

Hours of work:

  • Monday - Thursday 7am - 4pm
  • Friday 7am - 11:30am

Rates of pay:

  • Up to £37,000 per year dependant on experience - paid weekly
