Cover Supervisor
- Job Type: Part-time (32.5 hours per week, term time only + INSET)
- Location: Worthing
- Salary: £24,294 (pro rata £18,384)
- Contract: Permanent, starting as soon as possible
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join our school's committed staff support team. The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting young people to learn and enjoy engaging with our students in a classroom-based role. This role is ideal for someone who can establish a positive rapport with students and create a conducive learning environment.
Day-to-Day of the Role:
- Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of the class teacher under the guidance of teaching and senior staff.
- Manage student behaviour and assist students in relevant activities in line with the school's policies and procedures.
- Communicate classwork and homework set by the absent teacher to students.
- Monitor student progress and provide assistance as required.
- Ensure a constructive working environment by maintaining classroom discipline.
- Collect completed work at the end of the period and return it to the appropriate teacher.
- Report back on student progress and behaviour during the lesson.
- Assist the Cover Manager and Exams Officer with the invigilation of examinations and general administrative tasks.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Ability to maintain positive relationships with students and other adults.
- Strong organisational skills; ability to prioritise and work efficiently under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- GCSE English and Mathematics at ‘C grade' or equivalent.
- Good knowledge of using Microsoft Office software.
- Experience of working in an educational environment is desirable but not essential.
