Management Accountant

  • Location: Aldridge, Walsall, West Midlands
  • Job Type: Full-time - Permanent
  • Salary Range: Up to £40,000 DOE
  • Option for Hybrid working after successful probation period.

We are seeking a Management Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for producing management accounts and reports that provide clear business insights in an accessible manner. This role involves maintaining the integrity of financial records, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and supporting the financial controller in improving business governance and control environment.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Produce accurate, reliable, and timely management information, including KPIs, in required formats.
  • Ensure the integrity of information on all departmental systems for accurate transfer to the accounts system.
  • Document and update accounts department processes within the QMS.
  • Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations and reviews.
  • Seek to maximise cost efficiency through system improvements and work practices.
  • Maintain up-to-date company filing in line with HMRC and other statutory requirements.
  • Process and reconcile company books and records, including cash and bank accounts.
  • Assist in controlling the container fleet, ensuring problem-free delivery/collection and maintenance of contract paperwork.
  • Manage debtors and creditors effectively, adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Reconcile and maintain all control accounts, such as Fixed Assets, VAT, PAYE, etc.
  • Assist in the development of business systems and procedures.
  • Manage and support junior accounts department staff, ensuring they work to their potential.
  • Maintain the security of customer, supplier, and employee information.
  • Collaborate with other departments to maximise harmony in working relationships and practices.
  • Continuously seek to increase knowledge about the business and undertake any training as requested by the company.
  • Carry out additional duties as deemed capable by the company, including support for other staff positions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Management Accountant or in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, such as Health and Safety at Work, ISO9001:2015, Employment Rights Act 1996, and GDPR 2018.
  • Ability to work efficiently, productively, and effectively within a team.
