We are collaborating with a leading retail supplier on their search for their new Mid-Weight Designer! Renowned for their fast-growth, innovation and excellent customer experience they are committed to maintaining a competitive edge in the retail market. They supply products to some of the UK's most prominent retailers, including Primark, Tesco, Asda, Dunelm, and TK Maxx - with much growth now coming from overseas. While there is a significant emphasis on tech and gift products, the company has diversified into toys, homewares and general merchandise.

They are seeking a talented and creative Mid-weight Designer to join their dynamic team. You will have a strong background in graphic design, with some experience focussed on packaging, preferably within the retail sector. You will have the opportunity to create visually appealing, commercial designs and packaging that meet customer requirements and sell globally.

Key Responsibilities in the Mid-Weight Designer role:

  • Design Creation: Compiling visually compelling mood boards & creating product visuals to answer a customer's brief which 'sell the dream'. Putting together company & customer presentations. Creating interesting & attention grabbing designs for packaging & products across a variety of product categories.
  • Creative Ideation: Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute innovative ideas to drive sales & increase engagement with the company.
  • Brand Consistency: Ensure all designs align with the company's brand guidelines and maintain consistency across all platforms and touch points.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Account Managers, Sourcing Team & NPD Team to understand the customer's needs and translate them into effective design solutions.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to deadlines and delivering high-quality designs within budget constraints.
  • Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends, competitor strategies, and consumer preferences to inform design decisions and maintain relevance in the market.
  • Feedback Incorporation: Actively seek feedback from stakeholders and incorporate revisions to ensure designs meet objectives and resonate with the target audience.

Requirements:

  • A design qualification of degree would be preferable, but not essential.
  • 3-5 years of experience in graphic design, preferably in the retail industry. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) is a must.
  • Strong understanding of typography, colour theory, and layout principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
  • Attention to detail and a keen eye for design aesthetics.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of print production processes is a plus.
