Electronics Group Leader

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Electronics Group Leader to oversee and guide a team of talented electronics engineers. This pivotal role involves leading the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge electronic systems for defence applications, while ensuring the highest standards of engineering excellence and compliance. As a leader, you will help drive both the tactical and strategic growth of the team, ensuring it evolves to meet the needs of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of electronics engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members, assisting with complex problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Oversee the design, development, and testing of electronic systems and components for defence applications, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, software, and systems engineers, to ensure seamless integration of electronic systems.
  • Review, maintain, and improve working practices related to electrical and electronics design and development, ensuring up-to-date internal documentation.
  • Support the sales team by providing technical input for new bids, opportunities, and queries regarding electrical systems.

Skills & Experience:

Essential:

  • A degree in electronics or electrical engineering (2:1 or above), or a closely related discipline.
  • Several years of hands-on experience in electrical or electronics design, particularly in PCB development for high-performance microcontrollers, communications interfaces, and associated power supply and cabling architectures.
  • Experience in line management and leadership within a prototype engineering environment, preferably within the defence industry.
  • Technical project management experience, following the design lifecycle.
  • Experience with motion control systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Desirable:

  • Master's degree in electronics/electrical engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • 5+ years of proven technical team leadership experience.
  • Experience with electrical and electronics systems in the defence environment.
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle and its interaction with electronics and systems requirements.

Work-Life Balance:

  • 37.5 hour working week.
  • Lunchtime finishes on Fridays.
