Job Title: Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Teaching Assistant

Location: South Liverpool Primary School

Job Description:

Our school is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant team. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Leadership team to deliver the Early Years Statutory Framework (2017) and contribute to the nurturing and development of our youngest learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Framework Delivery: Collaborate with the Leadership team to effectively deliver the Early Years Statutory Framework (2017).
  2. Child Relationships: Develop positive and supportive relationships with all children in Early Years.
  3. Communication: Maintain excellent communication with parents, visitors, and professionals such as speech therapists and occupational therapists with confidence.
  4. Liaison: Work closely with the Leadership team, including the Early Years Lead, Head of Early Years, and Headteacher. Attend all relevant phase/staff meetings and CPD sessions.
  5. Statutory Awareness: Be knowledgeable about the statutory requirements detailed in the EYFS (2017) framework, Early Years Outcomes, Characteristics of Effective Learning, and safeguarding requirements.
  6. Guidance Compliance: Stay informed about other statutory guidance, including regulations for two-year-olds.
  7. Support Needs: Understand and support the differing needs of children, ensuring they receive appropriate assistance.
  8. Supervision and Planning: Supervise and plan for small groups of children, ensuring their safety and access to engaging learning activities.
  9. Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate records of children's learning journeys, progress checks, and transition plans.
  10. Emotional and Social Development: Support children's emotional or behavioural needs and assist in developing their social skills.
  11. Achievement Recording: Record children's achievements and progress systematically.
  12. Community Links: Develop links with the Children's Centre.
  13. Key Person Role: Act as a Key Person to children in the setting.
  14. Domestic Duties: Undertake certain domestic duties within Nursery, such as preparation of snacks and cleansing of equipment.
  15. Vision Fulfilment: Work alongside the Early Years Leader and staff team to ensure the school's vision is realised.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience working within an Early Years setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with children, parents, and professionals.
  • Knowledge of the Early Years Statutory Framework (2017) and safeguarding requirements.
  • Enthusiasm, creativity, and a nurturing approach to early childhood education.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to undertake a new one.
