Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) - Join Our Mainstream Primary School in Andover!

About Our School:

Our Andover-based primary school, catering to children aged 4 to 11, is a dynamic and inclusive learning environment. We are committed to providing every student with the opportunity to excel academically, socially, and emotionally. With a strong focus on supporting students with various social, emotional, and mental health needs, we believe in the transformative power of education and are looking for an experienced SENCo to help us fulfil this vision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the school's Special Educational Needs (SEN) policy.
  • Work closely with teachers to identify, assess, and support students with SEN.
  • Develop and maintain Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to the needs of students with SEN.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on best practices in inclusive education.
  • Liaise with parents, external agencies, and specialists to coordinate comprehensive support for students.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEN provision, using data to inform and drive improvements.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A recognised SENCo qualification
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of SEN legislation and best practices.
  • Empathy, patience, and a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive educational environment.
