Labourer/Semi-Skilled Operative

Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:00 - 15:30 (Overtime available) Salary Range:
- Labourer (No Experience) - £27,478
- Semi-Skilled Operative (Experience with Pumps, No Recognized Apprenticeship) - £31,925
- Other bands depending on experience.
Job Overview:
We are seeking a Labourer or Semi-Skilled Operative to join our team working on Southern Water waste and clean water sites. The role offers an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to gain hands-on experience in a supportive environment. You will be working closely with an Electrically Biased Engineer who also completes mechanical work, so a willingness to learn and get your hands dirty is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the maintenance, repair, and installation of equipment at Southern Water sites.
- Support the Engineer in both electrical and mechanical tasks.
- Carry out general labouring duties, including manual handling and basic mechanical work.
- Adhere to safety protocols and company procedures at all times.
- Willingness to work on wastewater and clean water sites, ensuring high standards of work quality and safety.
Qualifications & Skills:
- No formal qualifications or experience required for the labourer role, but any hands-on work experience would be beneficial.
- Semi-Skilled applicants should have experience with pumps, though no formal apprenticeship is required.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work well as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and a willingness to learn.
- Must be prepared to work in both electrical and mechanical environments. Overtime Rates:
- Monday to Friday: 1.5x up to midnight, double time after midnight.
- Saturday: 1.5x up to noon, double time after.
- Sunday & Bank Holidays: Double time.
