Interim Financial Controller

This successful, growing company is seeking a Financial Controller on an interim business for an expected period of four to six months. The role will provide cover whilst the business goes through a period of transition and for the successful candidate, could provide an opportunity to become permanent. Reporting directly into the MD the role will involve leading a small, capable team to ensure all aspects of the organisation's finances are controlled to the highest standards. There are plans for continued expansion so the opportunity provides plenty of scope to become a key part of their senior team in the longer term. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and completing monthly management accounts and MI pack including commentary and reporting to the MD
  • Attending leadership meetings and helping shape the direction of the company
  • Continually assessing the business and its performance from a financial perspective, and seeking opportunities to create further value
  • Becoming a trusted partner to the MD and operational management team, providing clear and concise management information to aid business decisions
  • Balance sheet management, control and reconciliations
  • End to end rebate management and reconciliations
  • VAT reconciliation and returns
  • Management of the businesses financial systems
  • Management of finance team including recruitment, training and development
  • Management of Accounts Payable, Credit Control and Cash management
  • Completion of forecasting and development of budgeting
  • Leading the annual audit in its entirety
  • Handling day to day relationship with the bank and completing quarterly reporting
  • Ensuring compliance across several areas including insurances
  • Renewal of company insurances including credit insurance
  • Various ad hoc project work/analysis for continuous improvement within the company
  • Involvement in process improvement and implementation to enhance business efficiencies
  • Evaluating companies' performance using key data, monitoring & developing KPI's to improve performance
  • Excellent working knowledge of ERP systems desirable

The successful candidate will have a proven track record within a similar role and an excellent breadth of knowledge and technical ability across all financial areas. Strong communication skills to deal with both internal and external stakeholders, with the tenacity to deal with any problems and take responsibility for the financial stewardship of the company.
Suitable applicants must be CIMA/ACA/ACCA qualified with previous experience at Finance Manager / Financial Controller level and strong business / commercial awareness. A key part of this role will involve working closely with senior management and external advisors, you must therefore be a credible and confident communicator able to lead, develop and motivate the team around you.
