School Caretaker

We are seeking a proactive and tech-savvy School Caretaker to join our team. The successful candidate will have a background in maintenance and will be responsible for ensuring that the internal and external facilities of a primary school in Swindon are available, fully functional, Health & Safety compliant, and aesthetically pleasing. This role requires flexibility to work in various Swindon FM schools and is based on split shifts (Mon - Fri 7am-3pm or 10am-6pm).
Day-to-day of the role:
- Ensure the security integrity of the school buildings and grounds through locking and unlocking, patrols, and monitoring.
- Perform daily duties such as litter picking, bin emptying, and sweeping.
- Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance tasks according to the school's schedule and individual skills.
- Provide access for, escort, liaise with, and assist service providers on site for remedial work or maintenance.
- Conduct minor repairs and decoration works.
- Participate in cleaning and deep cleaning activities as required.
- Be proactive in noticing and rectifying deficiencies in the facilities or reporting them to management.
- Investigate reactive requests related to accommodation issues and make temporary or permanent repairs, or notify management to call in a service provider.
- Respond to emergency situations and implement appropriate solutions.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to liaise with and assist external service providers.
- Leadership skills and the ability to work within a team.
- Flexibility and adaptability in approach.
- General handyman skills, including minor plumbing, carpentry, and electrical tasks.
- Experience in managing maintenance expenditure.
- A satisfactory Disclosure Barring Service Check is required for this role.
