Location: Randox Science Park, 55 Diamond Road, Crumlin, BT41 4LH, Northern Ireland.

Contract Offered: Full-time, Permanent

Working Hours / Shifts: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 08.40 to 17.20.

What does the Electrical & Electronic Design Engineer role involve?

This is an extremely varied role that will require you to develop a varied skillset, including:

  • Developing design concepts based on user requirements.
  • Contributing to the development of Functional Requirement Specification base don user requirements and approved concept designs.
  • Working within a multi-disciplinary team to ensure all development and testing is co-ordinated appropriately.
  • Applying knowledge of Electronic, Electrical, RF, Analogue and Digital design for assembly, design, integration and prototyping of system components into working systems for developmental assessment.
  • Working alongside other engineering disciplines and scientists to ensure designs are rigorously tested, verified and validated.
  • Identifying appropriately specified COTS products/software for use within a system.
  • Liaising with external design/manufacturing companies on technical specifications and project progress when appropriate.
  • Generating and maintaining technical documentation including specifications, design drawings, design calculations, work instructions, FMEA, BOM.
  • Conducting, reviewing and revising FMEA.
  • Contributing to risk and hazard analysis for products under development and released.
  • Reporting on status of projects to direct and senior management.
  • Contributing to design changes when necessary, ensuring the process is managed in a controlled way.
  • Ensuring all systems are designed to a high quality, maintaining compliance with internal procedures and European and international standards.
  • Assisting with training of staff in the manufacture and service of development systems.
  • Troubleshooting technical problems on existing designs and identifying possible solutions.

Who can apply?

This role would suit someone with a higher-level qualification in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Other Essential criteria:

  • A degree/Higher qualification in Electrical and Electronic Engineering
  • Being able to demonstrate relevant experience in electronic design, covering both analogue and digital circuits.
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply information from files, drawings, catalogue, reports, and manuals.

Desirable:

  • Altium DXP/Nexar experience.
  • Experience in embedded software development and general programming skills.
  • Understanding Design and Manufacture principles.
  • Experience/Knowledge of CE product marketing, including LVD and EMC and design for compliance.
  • Knowledge of ISO13485 and FDA guidance for the development of Medical Devices.
