Contract Details: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £28,000 to £30,000 per year

About Our Client:

Our client is a successful Furniture Retailer operating multiple retail stores across London and the South East. They are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Manager for their Stock Control & Ordering department.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate order checking and processing, setting a high standard for the Stock and Ordering team.
  • Promote and enforce proper ordering processes within the Stock and Ordering team, as well as other Retail Support departments and Sales teams.
  • Develop and optimise processes to enhance the ordering journey and improve customer experience.
  • Manage return orders efficiently in line with company procedures.
  • Safely allocate physical products to orders.
  • Facilitate product transfers between stores and the warehouse.
  • Track and manage large scale Contract Orders, adapting to changes as needed.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues across stores, departments, and global partners.
  • Create, monitor, and maintain accurate stock records, controls, and movements in coordination with the Stock and Ordering team.
  • Conduct regular stocktakes in the warehouse and stores, addressing any discrepancies.
  • Handle returned products in the ERP system, making them available for sale and providing full stock lists for clearance.
  • Guide the Stock and Ordering team in accurately tracking and reporting stock throughout the organisation.
  • Implement processes and procedures to improve accuracy and operational efficiency.
  • Coach and develop the Stock and Ordering team, fostering continuous learning and improvement.
  • Act as a brand ambassador and advocate for the organisation's products.

Essential (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):

  • Previous experience in a similar role, with expertise in ordering, stock purchasing, and inventory control.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or team lead role.
  • Strong knowledge of stocktaking procedures and processes.
  • Proficiency in ordering and stock management systems (ERP).
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office and IT systems.
  • Experience in training and coaching others in complex processes.
  • Passion for collaborating with colleagues to achieve common goals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement and implement effective solutions.
  • Proactive nature and self-motivated.
  • Respect for the values and ideals of the organisation.

Desirable (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):

  • Previous experience in a similar role (ordering/stock purchasing and inventory control) in at least a supervisory / team lead role: 2 years minimum
