An opportunity has become available for a Head of Operations to join an Engineering & Manufacturing company based in Cambridgeshire to lead the manufacturing and order fulfilment capability. They have recently won a contract with a Tier1 customer the candidate would be managing the complicated and diverse supply chain.
Major Responsibilities and Tasks:
Team Management:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the Operations team and coordinate with Contract Manufacturers (CMs).
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration within the team.
Forecasting and Liabilities:
- Manage the forecasting process, analysing demand and supply trends.
- Address any liabilities arising from the forecast.
Reporting and Communication:
- Regularly report progress and highlight issues affecting order fulfilment to senior management and stakeholders.
- Transparency is key to successful operations.
CM Relationship and Processes:
- Establish working practices with new CMs, aligning operational processes with business needs.
- Pay special attention to commercial requirements and cash flow.
Contract Agreements:
- Negotiate and finalise contracts or services agreements with the new CMs.
- Clear agreements are essential for a smooth partnership.
Process Improvement:
- Continuously identify areas for process enhancement.
- Implement improvements to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
