Role Overview: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated EAL (English as an Additional Language) Teaching Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will support students whose first language is not English, helping them to achieve their full academic potential. This role is crucial in promoting language acquisition and integration into the school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist EAL students in developing English language skills, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
  • Provide in-class support to EAL students during lessons, ensuring they can access the curriculum effectively.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to adapt learning materials and resources to meet the needs of EAL students.
  • Conduct small group or one-on-one sessions to target specific language skills and reinforce learning.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of EAL students, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment that respects and celebrates cultural diversity.
  • Support the planning and delivery of extra-curricular activities and enrichment programs.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or similar role, ideally with a focus on EAL.
  • Strong command of the English language, both written and spoken.
  • Knowledge of effective strategies for supporting EAL learners.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, empathetic, and encouraging approach to working with students.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or language support are desirable.
