Outdoor Education Teacher

Our SEN Academy in Taunton is seeking a passionate Outdoor Education Teacher with forest school experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about delivering high-quality outdoor learning experiences and fostering a love for nature among students. Experience with teaching the Duke of Edinburgh and Forest School is preferred! You will be teaching groups of 8, from Years 9, 10, and 11. This includes planning and the Health and Safety risk assessments etc, which will be reflected in the pay rate.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Plan and deliver engaging outdoor education lessons in line with the forest school ethos.
- Create a safe and stimulating outdoor learning environment for students of various ages.
- Encourage and facilitate outdoor play and learning in all weather conditions.
- Assess and record student progress, adapting teaching methods to meet individual needs.
- Collaborate with other teachers to integrate outdoor learning across the curriculum.
- Maintain and develop the outdoor learning resources and spaces.
- Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and students about the forest school program and student progress.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an Outdoor Education Teacher with a focus on forest school methodology.
- A strong understanding of the principles of forest school and outdoor learning.
- Ability to design and facilitate a range of outdoor activities that promote students' physical, social, and emotional development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to child-led learning and the ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the students.
- Relevant teaching qualification and forest school certification.
