An immediate start is available for a Tenancy Management Officer within a local authority in Oxford City. This role is essential for the management of tenancies and voids, providing a high-quality service to tenants and acting as a first point of contact for various stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of landlord and tenant legislation and be committed to delivering exceptional customer care.

Day-to-Day of the Role:

  • Act as the first point of contact for tenants, providing advice on housing-related topics and ensuring high-quality customer care.
  • Coordinate and influence the activities of Council services including property and grounds maintenance, health and safety, and customer involvement.
  • Manage tenancy changes, terminations, and enforcement of tenancy conditions.
  • Liaise with external support providers and coordinate the activities of other Council services.
  • Coordinate and prepare case files for legal proceedings and act as the Council's main witness in court cases.
  • Manage all aspects of tenant mobility, from application to sign-up, including property viewings and ensuring new tenants understand their tenancy agreement.
  • Identify suitable temporary and permanent decant properties, coordinating with teams to assist tenants with removals and service changes.
  • Address welfare and safeguarding concerns by liaising with external support and medical agencies as necessary.
  • Coordinate activities involving Council teams and external agencies to resolve neighbourhood issues and provide excellent customer services.
  • Manage the Estate Improvement budget, consulting with stakeholders on projects to ensure full utilisation.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Expert knowledge of current landlord and tenant legislation, guidance, best practice, and case law.
  • Experience in tenancy and void management within a local authority setting.
  • Strong customer service orientation and the ability to handle stressful situations professionally.
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple teams and external agencies effectively.
  • Proficiency in performance management reporting and general administration.
  • Competence in maintaining accurate and comprehensive electronic records.
