We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Cheshire on a permanent basis. This school provides a supportive environment for children with an autism diagnosis aged 7-16, helping them thrive both academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant:
- Work closely with a student on a 1:1 basis, providing tailored support to meet their individual needs
- Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering lessons, adapting resources to suit the learning style of the student
- Foster a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment, building trust with the student and promoting their independence
- Monitor and assess the student's progress, feeding back to teachers and other professionals to ensure continuous development
- Support the student's social and emotional development, helping them engage with peers and school activities
- Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behavioural strategies, as directed by the SENCO
Requirements of a Teaching Assistant:
- Experience working with children with autism or special educational needs (SEN) is essential
- Ability to work patiently and sensitively with students who have varied learning needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of autism and its impact on learning and behaviour
- A flexible and proactive approach to problem-solving
- A driving licence (this school is not accessible via public transport)
