We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Cheshire on a permanent basis. This school provides a supportive environment for children with an autism diagnosis aged 7-16, helping them thrive both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant:

  • Work closely with a student on a 1:1 basis, providing tailored support to meet their individual needs
  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering lessons, adapting resources to suit the learning style of the student
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment, building trust with the student and promoting their independence
  • Monitor and assess the student's progress, feeding back to teachers and other professionals to ensure continuous development
  • Support the student's social and emotional development, helping them engage with peers and school activities
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behavioural strategies, as directed by the SENCO

Requirements of a Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with children with autism or special educational needs (SEN) is essential
  • Ability to work patiently and sensitively with students who have varied learning needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of autism and its impact on learning and behaviour
  • A flexible and proactive approach to problem-solving
  • A driving licence (this school is not accessible via public transport)
