Teaching Assistant

Reed Education are currently working with a school in Worthing who are looking for an outstanding Teaching Assistant to join their team, initially for a few weeks but the right candidate may be asked to continue on in the school.

The role:

  • Helping pupils with their learning, often with a particular focus on maths, reading, and writing.
  • Supervising group activities.
  • Setting up equipment for lessons and keeping classrooms safe and tidy.
  • Helping develop programs of learning activities and adapting appropriate materials.
  • Motivating and encouraging pupils.
  • Getting the classroom ready for lessons.
  • Listening to children read, reading to them or telling them stories.
  • Helping children who need extra support to complete tasks.
  • Helping teachers to plan learning activities and complete records.
  • Supporting teachers in managing class behavior.
  • Clearing away materials and equipment after lessons.
  • Helping with outings and sports events.
  • Taking part in training.
  • Carrying out administrative tasks.

To be successful you will:

  • An ability to build good working relationships with both pupils and adults.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Flexibility and creativity.
  • Enjoyment of working with children.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Ability to manage groups of pupils and deal with challenging behaviour.
  • Patience and a sense of humour.
  • Have right to work in the UK and a DBS on the update service (we can support with the DBS)
  • Previous experience is ideal but Graduates interested in a teaching would be considered.
  • Qualifications in Support Work/Childcare of Counselling are also beneficial for this role but not mandatory.
