Commercial Trading & Tenders Manager

Are you a skilled analyst and savvy negotiator, who is looking to join a company who is a world leading global supplier in its industry for B2B products and consumables? If so, this position may be for you.

I am recruiting a Commercial Manager for the Trading & Tenders Team to be responsible for managing commercial trading activities and securing profitable business opportunities through strategic bidding. Here you will be an integral part of a small team of commercially minded individuals that plays a pivotal role in winning key business contracts and maximising profit on existing revenue streams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing product selection and pricing strategies for high value tender proposals
  • Negotiating with suppliers to reduce costs in key product areas
  • Utilising your analytical skills to support product rationalisation projects, process improvements, and division wide pricing strategies
  • Responding to pricing enquiries from the sales teams
  • Ad-hoc product sourcing across a broad range of categories
  • Updating and maintaining the data sources that drive our core processes
  • Analyse tender requirements and develop competitive, high-quality proposals in response to public and private tenders.
  • Manage and drive a small team, to work effectively and efficiently.
  • Develop and execute commercial strategies aimed at maximizing profitability and securing new business.
  • Conduct market research to stay informed of industry trends, competitor activity, and pricing dynamics.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and government bodies.
  • Provide regular reports to senior management on tender performance, commercial activities, and market trends.
  • Track and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) for tender wins, profitability, and trading activities.

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum 4-5 years' experience within a similar role. Ideally within a procurement or supply chain setting
  • Previous management experience
  • Excellent numerical and problem-solving ability
  • Be commercially astute and have the ability to analyse pricing and product data
  • Highly proficiency with Excel (pivot tables, lookups, advanced formulas).
  • Computer literate across the whole Microsoft suite
  • Experience of negotiation within a commercial setting
  • Experience in implementing process improvement
  • Positive mindset with great energy and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Educated to university degree, ideally in a subject with significant commercial and/or analytical basis

Work Environment:

Office-based with occasional travel for client meetings, site visits, and industry events. May involve working extended hours during high-volume tender periods.

Full Time Hours: 37.5hrs, office based Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm. Primarily office-based with occasional travel to suppliers, trade shows, and other industry events.
