Our Client:
Mackie Myers is partnering with a prominent higher education institution based in Central London.
The Role:
As Category Officer, you will be responsible for providing a high quality, credible and timely Procurement advisory and operational service, including business partnering with the IT Department. You will provide crucial support to the Head of Procurement and Category Leads. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting tenders and procurement exercises
- Negotiating with suppliers to ensure value for money and efficiency
- Reviewing and updating procurement processes as directed by the Head of Procurement
- Managing the software renewals programme
- Assisting in the design and delivery of a Procurement training programme for staff and suppliers to develop procurement skills and understanding
- Using technology to promote contracted suppliers
The Successful Candidate:
- CIPS Level 4 qualification or equivalent significant professional experience
- Experience of working within a Procurement environment, preferably in the HE sector, and working with senior managers and other stakeholders
- Excellent IT skills and the ability to extract /analyse data from various Procurement systems, such as Agresso, Mercell and emarketplace
- Well developed communication skills: verbal, written and in presentations
- Professional maturity and resilience in dealing with change

- 15-month fixed-term contract
- £38,000 - £43,000 salary
- Generous annual leave - 30 days plus public holidays and 6 closure days
