We have an exciting new opportunity for a Transport Shift Manager within our Logistics Division. We are after someone who is proactive, motivated and passionate about their role, whilst offering excellent service and standards to our customers.

The key purpose of this role:

You will maintain the condition and profile of the vehicle fleet to high standards of availability at minimum cost and to deliver the most efficient daily transport operation from Willenhall by managing and motivating the transport operational team.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Deputising for the Transport Manager in their absence
  • Delivering an effective daily operating plan
  • Accident reduction through continued training and assessment
  • Fuel usage reduction through SAFED training and continued assessment
  • Delivering the best service at the minimum cost by managing headcount, vehicle resource and best price purchasing
  • Effective control of contract maintenance work
  • Overseeing direct reports in relation to all aspects of performance and development in line with the leadership competencies

Some Key Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required:

Essential

  • Knowledge of standard hours scheme, tachograph regulations and working time regulations
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance schedules
  • Experience of working with a mixed fleet
  • CPC license

Desirable

  • HGV 1 Licence desirable
  • Previous line management experience and basic knowledge of employment law/HR policy preferred but not essential
  • Flexible approach to working hours
  • Ability to deal with conflict in an effective and professional manner
  • Demonstrates integrity, a strong work ethic and upholds the company values and principles
