Robert Half is exclusively partnering with a prominent, listed business in the UK, searching for a Finance Director (FD) to lead and shape their financial strategy and operations. This company is a household name, and well recognised for its strong commitment to innovation. This position will report into an experienced CFO (Chief Financial Officer) and have responsibility for a multi-billion turnover business unit.

The organisation is seeking a finance leader who can help drive their continued success in an increasingly competitive market, it is also important to them that this person has ambitions to be a CFO of the future.

Key Responsibilities

As the Finance Director, your responsibilities will span across the entire UK division, focusing on the following key areas:

  • Strategic Financial Leadership: Develop and implement the financial strategy, aligning it with the company's broader goals. Your insights will be crucial in driving efficiency and maintaining strong financial health.
  • Financial Stewardship: Oversee the full P&L and balance sheet, ensuring precise financial reporting, compliance with all necessary controls, and alignment with regulatory standards. You will lead the delivery of financial results into the company's systems.
  • Audit and Compliance Oversight: Set and execute the strategy for audits and internal controls, ensuring a strong and compliant control environment. Manage and optimise the company's accounting systems.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing finance team across various locations, including international sites. Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement within your team.
  • Investment Oversight: Provide financial stewardship for key investments and joint ventures, ensuring they are managed effectively and contribute to the company's long-term success.

What We're Looking For

Skills and Expertise:

  • Influential Leadership: Proven ability to influence at the executive level and build strong relationships across the business. You should be comfortable guiding strategic decisions with key stakeholders.
  • Strategic Planning: Demonstrated ability to develop and execute comprehensive plans that drive business success and operational efficiency.
  • Commercial and Business Acumen: Strong understanding of business strategy and the drivers of organisational performance, with a focus on financial metrics and business outcomes.
  • Technical Expertise: Exceptional understanding of relevant accounting standards, and regulations, with the ability to take the lead throughout the organisation on these matters.
  • Qualified Accountant: Fully qualified with significant PQE

Experience

  • Significant experience leading finance teams within large, complex organisations
  • Progressive career with track record of achievement and advancement
  • Proven track record of creating and implementing effective financial controls and policies.
  • Experience in managing and leading teams across multiple locations.
  • Previously held a Finance Director or Group Financial Controller position in a FTSE business (highly desirable)
