Science Communications Manager - part time

This role will develop, implement, and oversee communication strategies that effectively communicate scientific findings, programs, and initiatives. You will take complex data and have the ability to distill technical information into clear, engaging narratives.

Description

  • Translate complex scientific concepts into engaging and accessible content for diverse audiences.
  • Write and edit articles, reports, newsletters, and other publications highlighting key scientific achievements and research initiatives.
  • Create multimedia content (videos, infographics, podcasts) to effectively communicate scientific information.
  • Design and implement comprehensive communication strategies that align with organisational goals and promote the institution's scientific mission.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, including marketing, public relations, and research teams, to ensure consistent and effective communication efforts.
  • Monitor and assess the impact of communication initiatives, providing recommendations for improvements.
  • Serve as the point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including scientists.
  • Ensure scientific messaging aligns with stakeholder expectations and regulatory guidelines.

Profile

  • Science-Comms background is essential.
  • Strong ability to translate complex scientific research into engaging content.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Experience working with scientists, research institutions, or in academia.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Experience in handling sensitive or controversial scientific topics.
