International VAT Specialist
Location: London
We are looking to speak with seasoned VAT Specialists who would be interested in joining a Real Estate firm based in London.
As the international VAT Specialist, you will oversee indirect tax compliance and advisory matters throughout the companies international footprint. Your responsibilities will include assisting Brokers with VAT issues on various projects, managing the outsourced VAT compliance operations, and enhancing indirect tax processes and policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and document enhancements and controls for indirect tax processes.
- Coordinate with the outsourced VAT compliance provider to ensure timely, accurate, and cost-effective VAT compliance.
- Oversee the review of indirect tax filings.
- Lead the resolution of indirect tax disputes.
- Offer tax technical expertise on multi-country tenders and cross-border transactions.
- Support VAT-related aspects of M&A projects, group reorganisations, and other initiatives.
- Provide VAT training for finance and non-finance professionals.
- Mentor junior members of the tax team.
- Supervise the CIS process.
Qualifications:
- Relevant accounting and/or tax qualification.
Knowledge & Experience:
- Preferably trained at a Big-4 firm.
- At least five years of experience focused on VAT.
- Expertise in negotiating and implementing partial exemption calculations.
- Knowledge of VAT regulations for international property services is preferred.
- Experience in developing and refining end-to-end VAT processes and controls.
- A second European language is preferred.
A proactive individual who thrives in a collaborative team environment will be well suited. You should possess strong analytical skills and excellent stakeholder management capabilities, with the ability to engage effectively with various functional teams.
