One of our well-trusted clients in Accountancy Practice is looking for their next Accounts Assistant Manager who could contribute to the company's success story with their extensive knowledge and experience.

About the company:

They are a popular independent, owner-managed accountancy firm who have won multiple professional awards. They have dedicated partners and staff, catering to a diverse clientele that ranges from self-employed individuals and charitable organisations to public sector entities and multinational corporations.

They are currently seeking an Assistant Manager to enhance their Accounting & Business Solutions team in Edinburgh. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing client portfolios, conducting comprehensive file reviews, and showcasing robust technical knowledge and skills.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Managing a diverse client portfolio across sectors such as manufacturing, food & drink, property, charities, technology, and gaming, focusing on compliance, management accounting, and VAT.
  • Planning, controlling, and reviewing client work to ensure efficiency and effectiveness, allocating resources appropriately.
  • Reviewing all work within agreed timescales, addressing any issues, and ensuring key points are communicated to the Partner.
  • Facilitating communication between partners, clients, and various departments to share pertinent information.
  • Attending client and third-party meetings in support of Partners.
  • Regularly reviewing work in progress and ensuring timely fee generation.
  • Continually assessing and enhancing the use of technology and procedures to maximise recoveries.

Staff development:

  • Coaching staff on assignments and ensuring a cost-effective approach is communicated.
  • Briefing staff on client details and business nature as part of the planning process.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • ACCA/CA qualification or equivalent experience in managing a portfolio.
  • Experience within a professional practice and adept at building effective relationships.
  • Proficient in managing client portfolios, reviewing files, and working with FRS 102 clients, both individuals and groups.
  • Strong numerical and data analysis skills.
  • Client-focused, strategically and commercially aware.
  • Organised and capable of juggling multiple responsibilities within tight deadlines.
  • Sound technical knowledge with a proactive approach to CPD.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to maintaining high personal and professional standards.
  • Computer literacy and experience with accounts production software are desirable.
  • Experience working with charities would be beneficial.
  • Exemplifies behaviour consistent with the firm's values.
