We are currently recruiting for a Communications Officer on behalf of our public sector client based in East London.
This is a temporary role initially for 3 months with view for further extension. The role offers hybrid working, with 3 days at home and 2 days in the office based in Whitechapel. The day rate is £156.13 per day PAYE or £202.44 per day Umbrella.
Key duties will include:
- Provide communications advice and support to the public realm department
- Support execution and delivery of communications plans on recycling and waste improvement (although general support on wider public realm topics will also be part of the role)
- Developing external and internal content across channels including press releases, social media, newsletters, consultations and media responses
- Horizon scan, monitor and provide proactive and reactive communication responses and advice
- Brief senior officers, the chief executive, the mayor and members including supporting senior officers and members at photo opportunities generated by the communications team
- Support maintaining an effective planning grid
- Manage press and media enquiries related to portfolio
- Strong photography and film making skills, including editing content for channels
- Ability to go out around the borough to gent content for channels (at photo opportunities for example)
Experience and skills required:
- Experience of managing multiple social media channels to create a positive reputation and using metrics to reach the biggest audiences
- Experience of creating and selling in stories, providing sound media advice and support including interview briefs
- Delivery of media campaigns including a model of delivery, research and evaluation models
- Experience of monitoring media coverage, altering services and producing reports and tactics to respond
