Building Surveyor

We are working with a local authority in Salford to find a Building Surveyor on an interim basis.

Job Type: Full time – flexible working policy in place
Length of role: Initial 3 months. Potential to extend, potential to apply for permanent job after interim position.
Hourly rate: £35-£40 per hour dependent on experience. Rates are via Umbrella company. Role is inside IR35.
Location: Hybrid between Salford office, various sites, and home working.

We are seeking a Building Surveyor who is experienced in managing building works from conception through to completion. The successful candidate will be responsible for service delivery to a diverse range of clients, including education, and local authority projects. This role requires a proactive individual who can manage projects at scale and handle contractors effectively.

Day to Day of the role:

- Take responsibility for early-stage design and feasibility work.

- Develop detailed briefs in collaboration with clients.

- Carry out detailed design work and prepare production information.

- Undertake the role of Project Manager, administering building contracts and acting as ‘Lead Discipline' on programmed capital projects.

- Perform all aspects of professional surveying work, including surveys, Party Wall work, dilapidations, Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) compliance, and Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs).

- Conduct inspections to resolve building defects, assign contractors, and manage the works.

- Work on various projects, including refurbishments of children's residential homes, school refurbishments, and large-scale projects.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

- Chartered status.

- Proven experience in managing large-scale building projects.

- Strong project management skills, including contract management.

- Proficiency in design and feasibility, with a strong understanding of either discipline.

- Local authority experience is advantageous but not essential.

- A valid driver's license and the ability to travel to various project sites.
