Mac Operator

We are currently recruiting for a permanent Mac Operator for an international client based in Yate, Bristol.

£30,000 P/A to £38,000 P/A depending on experience.

Hours of work - 8.30am – 16.45pm

Your role will be to ensure the timely and efficient completion of all Repro and Technical Design related production tasks and to support the Structural Design team in delivering innovative packaging design. Whilst remaining aware of commercial and practical constraints. As an ambassador for the business, customer service should always be at the forefront of your thoughts.

Essential Job Functions/ Responsibilities

  • To create repro'd/print ready artwork from supplied customer artwork files, following site print specification and brief received.
  • Colour retouching images where required, i.e. to reduce TAC etc.
  • To adhere to an artwork checklist, checking all files to ensure the highest possible standard.
  • To produce technically correct print ready files for automatic trapping, and the ability to adjust files when necessary to help facilitate this. All aspects of packaging being considered including colours, varnishes, whites, printer specification and mark-up.
  • To work closely as part of the Pre-Press team to ensure that all artwork content is consistently accurate across the client base. To hold range reviews and to communicate issues to the relevant production staff.
  • To be fully up to date with expected industry standards of artwork production software platforms.
  • To meet all required deadlines for your assigned client in conjunction with the operational expectations.
  • To actively participate in the Pre-Press team, communicating well and working towards a right first-time approach.
  • Outputting press predicted proofs using GMG Opencolor software.
  • Preparing single up stations from internally repro'd & GSP supplied print ready files for step & repeat workflow.

Essential Skill Requirements

  • Reliable and flexible with a strong work ethic.

  • Experienced in dealing with pressure in a very fast paced environment.
  • Able to multi-task and manage one's own time.

  • Experience in creating smart button macro functions within the Artios CAD environment (desirable)
  • Previous experience as a Packaging artworker, preferably folding cartons
  • Primarily skilled in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop & Esko Artpro/Artpro +
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent communicator
  • Organisational skills
  • Confidence to work on a variety of briefs and self-resolve any issues.
  • Accuracy and high levels of attention to detail
  • Ideally Esko Automation Engine experience
