Management Accountant

Manufacturing and distribution Group based in Gosport, Hampshire, has a requirement for a Management Accountant to undertake responsibility for managing and developing the financial accounting operations, ensuring quality control, driving transformation and identifying efficiencies and the development of internal control policies procedures. The business has experienced a sustained period of development both through growth and acquisition, so this represents an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to develop and undertake more responsibility with the organisation.

What will the Management Accountant role involve?

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, the key responsibilities of the Management Accountant will involve:

  • Processing the Group month-end close including posting journals and preparation of management accounts both income statement & balance sheet;
  • Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations;
  • Assist the Group Financial Controller with the preparation of the monthly accounts, board reports and departmental reviews;
  • Management of the accounts payable and receivable functions and general ledger, with appropriate supervision and guidance to the finance team;
  • Daily monitoring of bank accounts and cash-flow management including weekly payment runs;
  • Completing statutory returns for Companies House, HMRC etc including completing VAT returns, EC Sales List and Intrastat reporting as appropriate;
  • Assist with the preparation of Group business plans, forecasts and function budgets;
  • Assisting the Group Financial Controller with the preparation of the Group and legal entity year-end financial statements and audit.
  • Be a key player in system and process improvement projects, as required.

Suitable Candidate for the Management Accountant vacancy:

  • Applicants for the position will have previous experience of working as a Management Accountant in a fast-paced environment with a proven track record of implementing effective improvements to internal controls and processes;
  • Candidates will ideally be studying towards or near completion for an accountancy qualification or be qualified by experience.

  • The role will be offered on a hybrid working basis with the successful candidate expected to attend the office 2 days a week.
