Dial a Ride Driver Attendant

  • Salary: £29,459 - £35,935 (dependent on shift pattern, grade, and length of service)

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join TFL's Dial a Ride team as Driver Attendants. This vital service provides a lifeline for many vulnerable people in London, helping disabled and older passengers who cannot use mainstream transport. As a Dial a Ride Driver Attendant, you will be responsible for transporting passengers safely and courteously, using accessible vehicles equipped with necessary safety features.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Drive to safe and professional standards, adhering to the Highway Code and traffic regulations.
  • Assist passengers with mobility needs, including securing wheelchairs and providing door-to-door assistance.
  • Conduct vehicle checks, report defects, and perform basic maintenance tasks.
  • Follow schedules and maintain accurate journey records.
  • Liaise with the Depot Duty Manager and Management Control Centre in case of incidents.
  • Carry out dynamic risk assessments considering passengers, location, and weather conditions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Hold a D1 driving licence or be happy to undergo the relevant driving course to secure the D1 licence. **TFL will pay for this accordingly.
  • Effective communication skills with good command of English, both oral and written.
  • Basic numeric and reading skills for planning journeys and understanding worksheets (desirable).
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills (desirable).
  • Ability to work effectively in a team (essential).
  • Experience in delivering excellent customer service (essential).
  • Experience of driving minibus-sized vehicles or similar (desirable).
  • Good understanding of health & safety and manual handling procedures (essential).
