Global Sustainability Coordinating Manager

Driving global success in environmental and sustainability initiatives, aligning with customer expectations and divisional strategies, and adhering to a carbon net zero approach. Responsible for sustainability questionnaires and assessments, RFQ data collection and improvement, divisional climate transition plans (CTPs), energy management and assessments, and raising sustainability legal awareness.

The client, a leading global manufacturer, holds the prestigious King's Award for Enterprise: Innovation, reflecting their commitment to progressive innovation and fostering a diverse team culture. Here lies an intriguing and distinctive chance to become a member of their Global Leadership team in the newly created position of Global Sustainability Coordinator. Reporting directly to the Global Sustainability Lead (Senior Director), this role, based 3-days a week in Portsmouth, is integral to a burgeoning division within the organization.

Description

Environment, Health & Safety:Lead by example in following company policies and applying them to your role and divisional interactions. Uphold your duty of care by complying with all Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures, ensuring the well-being of yourself, colleagues, and the environment.

Sustainability Assessments: Collaborate with divisional colleagues to produce sustainability assessments and validated data within divisional timelines, including BRSR, CDP, SAQ, EcoVadis, DERI, CSRD, M2030, and others. Work together to identify improvements and projects annually, validated by increased scores. This involves forward planning responses and detailed analysis of previous assessments, creating and implementing action plans. Support the Gensuite (BG) crossover to our teams and plants.

Data Management Efficiency:Oversee process and operational activities, automating data to enhance efficiency across multiple platforms while managing and updating our RFQ EHS standard response database to align with customer expectations.

EHS Legal:Communicate and support sustainability-related legal obligations and best practices, including developments across our global operations.

GHG Protocols (Supply & Value Chain): Collaborate with divisional teams to meet GHG protocol requirements, particularly GHG Scope 3 targets, to enhance sustainability scores in assessments and PCF/CCF projects, including RFQs, with a focus on continuous improvement and development.

Climate Transition Plans (CTP): Continuously enhance divisional climate transition plans to meet the 2040 net zero target and specific customer requirements. Collaborate with plants and teams to review improvement reports and develop actionable plans. Manage and update Best Practice Register with monthly releases, reporting on progress. Regularly liaise with plant teams to ensure adherence to the 2040 target, addressing any deviations, including Capex/Opex issues.

Energy Management: Lead energy management campaigns to achieve top-notch outcomes and enhance energy site surveys and assessments, facilitating energy reductions within plants as part of their overall CTP efforts, including setting minimum improvement standards for each location. Additionally, mentor and support Energy Officers, operational teams, and others to foster continuous improvement in energy management divisionally and in reducing carbon emissions.

Profile

A successful candidate must have:

  • Bachelor degree in environmental management and sustainability, or equivalent experience.
  • Diploma in sustainability specific qualification, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience/knowledge with at least EcoVadis and/or CDP
  • Proven operational experience working on environmental and sustainability in a global multi-site environment, ideally within automotive or manufacturing.
  • Proven experience in energy management and undertaking audits and assessments/inspections.
  • Life cycle analysis of products and components, including 'cradle to grave' principles.
  • Waste management solutions/recycling and reduction. CMRT impact.
  • MUST be flexibile to work global hours when needed and to come onsite to Portsmouth 3-days a week.

Nice to Have:

  • ISO 50001 auditor qualification / energy management auditor (EMAS)
  • ISO 14001 auditor qualification
  • Knowledge of Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions (GHG protocols)
  • Broad knowledge of global environmental and sustainability legal (ideally both UK and international) requirements and best practices, ideally from a global workplace.
