Applications are now closed for our graduate programme. We will launch our next recruitment campaign by the end of September 2024 which will be for our September 2025 intake of graduates. In the meantime, you can register your interest and we will contact you when our recruitment campaign goes live.

SSE's Engineering Graduate programme has produced professional and skilled engineers who have developed successful careers within SSE for over 10 years. We're looking for bright, ambitious graduates with a genuine interest in SSE and the prospect of a long term future with us to join our Engineering Graduate Programme. Our Programmes are designed with our core values in mind and aims to qualify and train you to become our engineers of the future.

We can offer you a structured and challenging development programme where you'll have the support of the Graduate Programme Manager and a business mentor to assist you in reaching your full potential. Our programme is accredited by the IET, ICE and IMechE and offers a route to Professional Registration (Chartered or Incorporated Engineer). The programme will support your career development into an Operational, Technical Design or Project Management role.

You will play a key role from day one in helping the business maximise value from our operating assets, and ensuring we achieve our ambitious capital investment plans. You'll spend time developing your skills across different business areas and will take individual responsibility for real results at each stage. This will involve some travel to sites throughout the UK to gain practical exposure to certain business areas therefore a full UK driving licence would be an advantage.

What We Look For

  • For this programme, you'll ideally have an MEng or minimum of a 2:2 BEng in a mechanical, electrical, civil, chemical or building services engineering discipline, along with related work or project experience.
  • You will have previous experience of working in a team environment and will be used to setting stretching individual targets and using your own initiative to overcome challenges.
  • You should have an interest in the energy industry and show alignment with SSE's core values. We also ask that you have a flexible approach to work locations and be genuinely committed to developing a career with us – as we are with you.
