Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) for Key Stage 1 students with learning disabilities and complex needs.
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of young students, with a focus on SEN (Special Educational Needs) and SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) support.
- Collaborate with other educators, specialists, and parents to support student development.
- Assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
- Provide a safe and nurturing classroom environment that promotes student engagement and learning.
- Utilise assistive technology and other resources to enhance learning experiences.
- Conduct regular assessments and maintain accurate records of student performance.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with Key Stage 1 students with learning disabilities and complex needs.
- Strong understanding of various learning disabilities and effective teaching strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with young students with special needs.
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations related to special education.
- Understanding that behaviour is communication and being trauma-informed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with assistive technology and adaptive learning tools.
