Position Available: Senior Mechanical Architect

Location: Hertfordshire (Hybrid) & Dynamic Working Hours

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 + Bonus & Good Pension Package

Experience needed: Significant experience of mechanical & electro-mechanical design and experience of developing proving logic and leading the generation of compliance evidence. This would ideally have been done in a complex, high-technology engineering industry e.g. defence, aerospace, automotive, robotics, electronics, manufacturing etc...

About the role

We are a leading defence company who are at the forefront of innovation in the industry and your work will have a direct impact on the safety and security of the UK & our allies. We currently have two vacancies available in our Mechanical Architect team at Senior and Lead level. The team are responsible operate across the full product lifecycle from initial feasibility studies to series production and ongoing in-service support

Your main duties will include gathering and managing requirements to ensure that our products perform as expected, meet deadlines, and stay within budget. You will need to justify design choices, coordinate verification activities to prove performance, and make sure that all functional & mechanical requirements are applied to all parts of the product.

What we need from you:

  • Significant industrial experience in the fields of electro-mechanical & mechanical design
  • Experience developing proving logic and leading the generation of compliance evidence
  • Desire and determination for on time, on cost and on quality delivery
  • Strong interpersonal and well-developed communication skills
  • Ability to lead in an international environment and understand cultural issues
  • Proven track record to foster and lead collaborative teams
  • We are also interested in a proficient understanding of some broader engineering fields such as; Materials, Tolerancing, Configuration Control, Vibration, Shock, Fatigue, Six Sigma & Lean Design, Systems Engineering V-model, DFMEA
  • For the Lead-level role: Proven track record to foster and lead collaborative teams
