Job Purpose

To provide high-quality care and support to residents in a residential care setting, promoting their dignity, independence, and well-being. The Care Assistant will work as part of a team to deliver person-centred care in line with individual care plans and organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Support residents with mobility and physical activities, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Help with meal preparation and assist residents during mealtimes, ensuring nutritional needs are met.
  • Monitor and report changes in residents' health and well-being to senior staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of care provided and contribute to care plan reviews.
  • Encourage and support residents to participate in social and recreational activities.
  • Promote a safe and clean environment, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
  • Build positive relationships with residents, their families, and team members.
  • Attend training and development sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of new staff and volunteers as needed.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous experience in a care role, preferably within a residential setting.
  • Understanding of person-centred care principles.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations within a care environment.
  • Basic first aid and medication administration training (or willingness to undertake training).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
