Job Title: Occupational Health Advisor

Location: Barrow In Furness

Working Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week Monday - Thursday 07:15am - 16:00pm and Fridays between 07:15am to 11:45am

Salary: Competitive dependent on experience and qualifications

Essential Qualification & Certifications required as a Occupational Health Advisor:

Bachelors Degree in Nursing or Occupational Health Diploma and Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration

They are looking for a passionate and experienced Occupational Health Advisor to service a client located in Barrow-in-Furness you will make a lasting difference to peoples lives every day. Your roles and responsibilities as a Occupational Health Advisor

  • Providing expert, evidence based case management services for referrals relating to attendance, fitness for work and other requests for OH advice.
  • Providing professional, comprehensive and evidence based written reports
  • Providing expert advice in respect of legislative requirements and best practice relating to OH
  • Providing fitness medicals and health surveillance where required that meet best practice requirements and in line with our clients policies and protocols
  • Evaluating the results of medicals and surveillance provided, and ensuring that the correct advice in relation to fitness is communicated, escalating where clinically appropriate
  • Providing (where competent) other OH services where required such as vaccinations, travel health services, ergonomic advice, or health promotion for our clients
  • Providing clinical supervision and support other team members where relevant (such as OH Technicians)
  • Committed to maintaining valid and up to date registration with the NMC and complying with NMC guidelines in relation to professional issues, clinical supervision and continuous learning and development as a registered nurse

As a successful Occupational Health Advisor you will have experience in:

  • Spirometry
  • Audiometry
  • General Medicals
  • Drug and Alcohol screening
  • Case Management
  • Fitness for role assessments
  • Registered Nurse (Part 1)
  • Postgraduate qualification in Occupational Health Degree/Diploma
  • Meticulous written skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communicator with a range of stakeholders & excellent time management skills
  • Understanding of own competence, how this relates to practice and where to escalate/seek support to ensure safe practice
  • Comprehensive understanding of the principles and practice of data protection and confidentiality in OH
  • Case management and provision of OH advice
  • General medicals and health surveillance experience
  • Ability to demonstrate a flexible and proactive approach to work
  • Visible commitment to excellence in practice and a convincing advocate of proactive occupational health service delivery
  • Negotiation and motivational skills, ability to accept and deliver constructive feedback
  • Skilled and confident in creating and delivering presentations to clients and employee
